The summit also hosted a conference on the theme of ‘Building Effective Business Legal Innovation’. The industry of business law is known for adherence to precedent, not innovation. But with the transforming era of technological innovation, businesses in legal sector are bound to bend to the newest technology amendment in this age. The disruption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is significant in the automation and augmentation of the entire law industry, especially to the eDiscovery. Innovation drives change, and change can be challenging, when leading the charge or adopting new practices in an industry. Law companies have realized the repercussions of not investing in the technology which will ultimately hinder their capability in competing in the legal market.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Soli Sorabjee, Former Attorney General of India, Technology changed the ways of education and learning methods. Today we have mobile, internet, computer and social media, video conferencing tools, and mobile apps to communicate with anyone around the world. Today the purpose is to make the world better place by unity and harmony in the community. The world is becoming digital and the main aim should be to use the technology to make a world better place.

The major objective of the summit is to bring the entire law industry under one roof providing an excellent opportunity to share ideas on India’s legal framework and provide strategies on efficiently managing legal strategy as a business process.

Lalit Bhasin, President of Society of Indian Law Firms, This was the first time that such innovative theme “Building Effective Business Legal Innovation” was discussed. The topics for the panel discussion were very fruitful as people get to know more about how technology is effecting the law. I would like to introduce the topic of “Co-opetition” which is a combination of competition and cooperation that should be the spirit particularly when business and law come together. This combination is mutually rewarding association which should prove to be beneficial for strengthening  the rule of law.

India Legal Awards is organized by Biz Integration and supported by Society of Indian Law Firms and Singapore International Arbitration Society.
