Aeronautical Society of India holds Seminar on ‘Stress Management’ at Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology (TIAT)

NewsPatrolling.com : Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) organized a ‘Stress Management’ seminar for Aviation industry and students today at Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology (TIAT), Kandivali (E).
The aim of the Seminar was to teach aviation students how to handle stress, which can improve crew members’ performance and avoid unfortunate accidents.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Vivek Kulkarni- Sr. Instructor, TIAT and addressed by Mr. Keshava Sharma, Chairman, Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) and regional executive director of Airport Authority of India. “I am an air traffic controller, which is not that well known even to people in aviation industry and is considered one of the most stressful job of the world. We are responsible for the safe and smooth flow of air traffic in the sky and on the ground across the airports. We have to take decisions under high risk. The immense responsibility that we have to shoulder every day in the aviation industry we have to master handling stress.”
“Whenever I sit in front of radar and get stressful, I develop the strategy to overcome the stress. In this seminar we have talked about how to overcome stress,” he further adds.
Mr. Subhajit Maity, Chief Instructor of TIAT said “Flight crew members have an incredibly stressful job – no surprise here as the responsibility and safety of the passengers are in their hands, coupled with other factors like workload, jet lag, being away from family members for a long period etc. These can often lead to unfortunate accidents. Through this Seminar we wanted to address how to cope and overcome such stress as to avoid mistakes which can result in accidents.” 
Keynote speakers at the event were Mr. PS Ganapathy, retired from Air India, and Dr. Punita Masrani, specialist on Aviation Medicine.
Some of the other delegates who graced the occasion with their presence were Capt. AD Manek from skyline Aviation club, Ms. Adrianne - flt. Instructor (Australia), Mr. Bhadhur from Bombay flying club, Mr. Rakesh from Air traffic controller, Pooja Sawant from Jet Airways, Capt. D.K. Roy from Air India, Dr. Nitesh Yevle from Fro Rodrigues Institute of Technology, Vashi, Dr. Rajkumar Pant from IIT Bombay, and Mr. Harish Kate, workshop maintenance manager, Aman Aviation.
